“Duet” limited edition archival inkjet print on canvas from an original painting by Joanna Zeller Quentin.
–Music, art, and horses have been inextricably entwined for me since my earliest days. I’ve always been an artist, musician, and equestrian, and all three disciplines have nurtured and informed each other on my path as an artist. Duet reaffirmed my path as an artist/ musician at a time when I’d lost sight of both of those things, and I’m grateful to this piece for rekindling that fire in me and understanding of how these creative disciplines feed off each other, and how hoofbeats can serve as the drumbeat rhythm of a soul. My paintings tend to musically themed names, and Duet is no different, but Duet is also a bit different. Not only is it a musical term that means a piece played by two musicians, but if you look carefully at the grey horse and the purple shape, you may notice something surprising that makes the name of this piece twice as nice. — Jo Quentin
